Terms of Service

1. The service

ResQPaw helps reunite lost pets with the people who care for them. You can post lost, found, sighted, or deceased-pet reports, and the platform uses AI-assisted image and text matching to surface possible matches across reports and publicly available community and shelter listings.

ResQPaw is a tool to assist your search. We make reasonable efforts to surface relevant matches, but we do not guarantee that a match will be found or that a pet will be reunited. Matching depends on the quality of the information available and factors outside our control.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You can use ResQPaw as a guest (with only an email or phone number) or as a registered user. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your contact method reachable so you can receive match notifications. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in Québec, or have the consent of a parent or guardian.

3. Your content

• You agree to submit truthful reports only, and to describe animals and circumstances honestly.
• Photos you upload must contain only the animal — not people, and especially not children. We may reject or remove photos that do not meet this requirement.
• You retain ownership of the content you submit. You grant ResQPaw a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, process, and adapt that content for the purpose of operating the service — including generating image embeddings, running matching, and showing your report publicly in a privacy-scrubbed form (no contact information, and approximate location unless you opt in to share more precise location).

4. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent reports.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access or bulk-collect data from the platform.
• Misuse contact information obtained through a match — for example, for solicitation, harassment, or any purpose other than discussing the specific animal.
• Upload or share other people’s personal information without a proper basis to do so.

5. Paid features and refunds

Posting a lost or found pet and receiving matches is free. ResQPaw may offer optional paid features that expand your search or notifications. Where paid features are available, the pricing page describes the current options, prices (in Canadian dollars), and billing model — which may include a recurring subscription you can cancel at any time through the billing portal, or a one-time pass that grants access for a limited period and does not renew automatically. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

Refunds are handled in accordance with Québec’s Consumer Protection Act and applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at info@resqpaw.com.

6. Deceased-pet reports and community data

We treat deceased-pet reports with care and sensitivity, and match them only under strict, high-certainty conditions.

ResQPaw also incorporates publicly posted listings from community sources and shelters to broaden the search. This community-sourced information may be incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated. Always verify important details — especially an animal’s current status or location — directly with the originating shelter or source before acting on them.

7. Service availability

We work to keep ResQPaw available and reliable, but the service is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis and may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons beyond our control. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features from time to time.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ResQPaw is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including any failure to find a match or reunite a pet. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have that cannot be limited under Québec’s Consumer Protection Act or other applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations or exclusions of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

9. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to hold ResQPaw harmless from claims arising out of content you submit or your misuse of the service, including submitting false information or misusing contact details obtained through a match.

10. Governing law and language

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the laws of Canada applicable therein. These Terms are provided in both English and French; a French version is available, consistent with consumer-contract requirements in Québec.
